A guide to happy bunking….
The attendance numbers in VIT are very good compared to other colleges. The reason for such good numbers is not because the lectures are interesting or the students are disciplined. The real reason is that there is nothing to do if you bunk your classes, but don’t worry I’ll try to help you with where to go? if you bunk the college.
ATM- The nearest ATM is at dosti esatates .Get the money from there and start exploring.
Hariyali -Just at the beginning of wadala bridge lies this shady bar which serves passable food with rude service.
Now at the VJTI end of wadala bridge you have got two options get down from 110 (I call it exodus) at end of bridge or go ahead to five gardens and ruia.
Now if you get down at VJTI start walking towards khalsa college or Don Bosco school, then you can find
Chakli pav: If anybody is interested in this weird but innovative thing you’ll find it in the labyrinth of allies near NKES school. Cheese Chakli paav is also available.
Raju sandwichwala-Right in front of Khalsa college raju serves up good filling double decker sandwich.
In the vicinity of khalasa college there is a usual CCD and a naturals ice-cream.
Classic – The veg. restaurant besides CCD has famous pav-bhaji. The food for external examiners at VIT is ordered from this place.
Garnish- Straight down the lane from Classic there is one more restaurant .this serves a good veg. cheese grilled sandwich but order takes time to come, avoid
South Indian food at this place.
Chatai paav bhaji:just in front of Garnish near jain temple you will find this place springs up from nowhere in the late nights. You have to sit on chatai to eat.
Family park and shri
Mama paanwaala:has a wide selection of paans ,His clients includes Bal thakrey.
GameSpace:a heaven for gamers, but sadly there is not a single pool place in the vicinity.
New Yorker: Serves OK quality continental food at high prices.
Koolar and sons co. : A must visit, almost a heritage site of Mumbai. This authentic irani restaurant has tried its best to stay afloat .Many ads and some movie scenes are also shot here, most recent being the gambhir’s “coke ke sath dost free” commercial. Great posters, a jukebox, even a box of hand grenades decorate this place. The owner looks like a WWE wrestler so don’t mess with him, he will always ask for change while paying.
Must try dishes include Kheema paav, Kheema ghotala , wrestlers omlette (6 eggs), Irish coffee called ‘Irish terror’,
Ribbons and balloons : good pastries and cakes, softy shop besides this serves age old orange slush, kala khataa slush and wide selection of softy ice-creams.
Health juice center: Very nice and cooling juices, acclaimed by many news papers also.
King’s circle and matunga are the birthplace of south Indian food , you have great options for south Indian food here.
Maisoor Café: Supposed to be the oldest restaurant around, maisoor dosa with garlic chutney, pineapple shira, idli made in jackfruit leaf etc are must tries here.
Between these two hotels you can find any books ,novels you want at bit higher prices than at flora fountain.
Rama nayaks idli house: revolutionary take away idli place, widest variety of idlies available.
In the allies that lead towards matunga station you can find fresh banana chips made in front of you and also other south Indian delicacies.
Madhu book depot: all the engineering ref. books and textbooks are available here, he also gives 70% money back on return of book.
Now if you decide to get down at Ruia college your at the place where you can spend almost 4-5 hrs happily .
Get down at Ruia college stop from 110 and the first restaurant you’ll see is
Chinaman: A Chinese restaurant serves good food if you are not worried much about the hygiene. Every thing is ok here apart from
Juicewala: besides chinaman serves nice cold coffee after hot meal at chinaman .
Also you can try the watermelon juice, chocolate shake etc .
Mani’s: This award winning south Indian restaurant serves everything south Indian that too, the chutney and sambhar are unlimited. They start making chutney as early as 5.30a.m. must try would include upma, coffee (ask for extra sugar)And don’t hesitate to share the table with unknown people.
Gala juice: juices and Chinese bhel.
DP’s : the veg. restaurant serves chat,Chinese(wok hai),nice paranthas and fruit beer.
Then if you start walking towards welinkar’s you’ll find
Café gulshan It’s irani cum moghlai cum Chinese cum bakery restaurant food quality is good and service is prompt .must try includes caramel custard, kheema paav, chai ,moghlai food.
Photocopy: In front of gulshan the Xerox guy still charges less for copying the notes and printouts are also cheap with good quality.
Rajbhog: Full gujrathi thali at reasonable prices.
Rama nayaks boarding house: near matunga station serves full south Indian thali . The vegetables are cooked in coconut oil if you have taste for it then this is as authentic as it gets.
Durga bar: Good food and if you have a friend from welinkar’s or atleast his I card you will get 10% discount.
Hokey pokey: offers you a choice of making your own ice cream from kitkat to ferrero rochers .
Sathey general stores: you can get authentic adidas, nike and other deos, perfumes at cheaper prices here.
Parag juice center:At dadar T.T. this is specially for late nighters of course there is no college at this time but just in case ,this place is open till wee hours and serves good paav bhaji.
So I think these many places are enough to pass the time with friends and bunk the college. So I would conclude saying don’t participate in mass bunks, proxy wisely and wish you happy bunking!!!

saashtaang namaskar
